As a member of Feeding America, Harvest Hope is actively involved in responding to disasters that affect member food banks. Harvest Hope works in partnership with the national office to ensure that our response is tailored to the specific needs of affected communities. From fundraising locally to shipping needed supplies from our warehouse, we are committed to relief efforts as long as the need persists.
- In September of 2005, Harvest Hope provided over 40,000 pounds of food to food banks damaged by Hurricane Katrina and 16,000 pounds of food to Katrina evacuees who relocated to South Carolina.
Statewide
As a member of the South Carolina Food Bank Association, Harvest Hope helps provide the food when a disaster effects the part of South Carolina. The Food Bank Association which consist of 4 member food banks in the state work with the South Carolina Emergency Management Disvision to insure that food needs are meet accross the state during that time.
