Things You May Not Know About Harvest Hope:
For the calendar year, January through December 2007, Harvest HOPE Food Bank's network provided the following in response to food assistance requests:
- • Served more than 1.2 million (1,136,656) meals through soup kitchens, shelters, senior centers, after-school programs
- • Provided emergency groceries for 286,666 families through emergency pantries. A 35.6% increase of households served from the previous year, 2006.
- • Food Distribution through our 417 partner agencies increased by 27.0% from the previous year, 2006.
- • Distributed 22,230 boxes of essential food items through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) to 1,470 seniors.
- • Provided more than 66,400 meals and 4,000 backpacks filled with food (84,590 lbs) were distributed to 700 after-school children attending 14 Kids Cafes during the 2007 School year (January to June and August to December).
- Harvest Hope distributed more than 19 million pounds of food last year.
