Annual Spread the Love Peanut Butter Drive Begins
February 3, 2022
After a few tough years for so many, Harvest Hope Food Bank is again asking the local community to help “Spread the Love” by donating jars of peanut butter to help feed children, seniors, and families in need.
With the support of local businesses and community members, in 2021 around 12,000 jars of peanut butter were collected during the month of the February. This year, the food bank will be setting a goal of 15,000 jars with the hopes to reach, and surpass, that goal to help those facing hunger.
“When we first kicked off this campaign almost three years ago, we hoped it would be a fun way to spread awareness about hunger in our area and encourage individuals to give back. We never imagined that our community would come together to collect thousands of jars for those in need,” says Erinn Rowe, CEO. “Peanut butter is such an easy thing to grab at the grocery store, and it can make the world of difference for someone facing hunger. Surpassing our goal this year would be something to celebrate for everyone.”
Peanut butter is one of the most frequently requested items by the partners and clients Harvest Hope serves because it is kid-friendly, shelf-stable, and protein-rich. One jar can go a long way in adding extra protein to many recipes.
Community members looking to donate jars of peanut butter can drop off donations at the locations listed below. Since glass can break easily, we appreciate your donations of plastic jars of peanut butter.
