Harvest Hope Kicks off Annual Spread the Love Peanut Butter Drive
February 12, 2021
After a tough year for so many, Harvest Hope Food Bank is asking the local community to help “Spread the Love” by donating jars of peanut butter to help feed our neighbors in need.
In 2020, Harvest Hope set a goal of collecting 1,000 jars of peanut butter – a frequently requested pantry staple. With the support of local businesses and community members, over 10,000 jars of peanut butter were collected by the end of the month! This year, the food bank hopes to collect 15,000 jars to help those facing hunger.
“When we kicked off this campaign last year, we hoped it would spread awareness about hunger in our area and encourage individuals to give back, but never did we think we would be able to collect 10,000 jars of peanut butter,” says Chuck Backman, Midlands Branch Executive Director. “Little did we know how much our world was about to change in a few short weeks and how much our neighbors would need this peanut butter to fill their cabinets. Surpassing our goal again this year would mean so much to us, but even more to those it will feed.”
Peanut butter is one of the most frequently requested items by pantries and clients Harvest Hope serves because it is kid-friendly, shelf-stable, and protein-rich. Community members looking to donate jars of peanut butter can drop off donations at the locations listed below. Since glass can break easily, we appreciate your donations of plastic jars of peanut butter.
