"Stuff a Stocking" for Those Facing Hunger this Holiday Season

December 10, 2020

As the busiest year on record comes to a close, Harvest Hope is turning to the local community to help spread some cheer to those facing hunger by asking the community to “Stuff a Stocking” with non-perishable food items to fill tables this holiday season.

Since January, Harvest Hope has provided meals to over 500,000 individuals through its emergency food pantry. With three and half weeks left in 2020, the food bank has already surpassed its numbers in 2019 by over 300%.

“The holiday season always brings communities together as a time to give back, and this year our neighbors need us more than ever,” says Wendy Broderick, Harvest Hope CEO “We hope this will give families a fun opportunity to give back to those facing challenges feeding their own families.”

Community members are encouraged to drop-off their stockings of food at any Harvest Hope location or partner location. Monetary donations can be made online or mailed to PO Box 451, Columbia, SC 29202.

Harvest Hope’s most needed items are: macaroni and cheese, rice, pasta, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meats, peanut butter, soups, dry or canned beans. No glass jars, please.
